Credential Recognition Activity

The focus of the Credential Recognition activity is to streamline the recognition of international credentials in the Ontario college system, through the design and implementation of “My Record” and the Record of Education and Experience (REE).  These tools have the potential to serve the "36% of Ontario college students who have prior post-secondary experience."  

"My Record” is a web-based application that consolidates an ITI’s validated and evaluated academic credentials plus other appropriate information, leading to the creation of a REE, a secure report reflecting an ITI’s international education and work experience.  A pilot began at four Ontario colleges on January 8, 2009 to assess the tool’s ability to enhance an ITI’s opportunity for advanced placement within the college system. The pilot is also assessing the use of this tool to improve an ITI’s employment prospects.  While the past year has developed the education modules, future development will focus on enhancing the experience-based module of the REE.
