Employment Services
A self- audit of college employment services was undertaken by 15 participating Ontario colleges (including both French colleges) that identified key recommendations to improve both the capacity to deliver employment support services to ITIs and the quality of service delivered. This audit used results from an online survey called ‘Understanding the Employment Service Needs of Internationally Trained Immigrants’ administered to over 430+ ITIs in and out of the college system in Ontario. This survey benchmarked the audit tool to customer needs, developing a truly customer-centred audit. In addition, a survey of 125+ community agency participants across the province also resulted in a research report on ‘Understanding Ontario Colleges-Community Linkages’ which added contextual value to the audit.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business, Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council, Employment Ontario, The Council for Access to the Profession of Engineering, Settlement and Integration Services Organization – Hamilton and other stakeholders were engaged to understand and service employer needs in recruiting, retaining and managing diverse ITI human capital.
The activity also provided extensive support to/integration with other CIITE activities including ITI Advising (and Pathways to Employment project), Data Collection, ITI Integration Plans, Francophone Issues, Language Benchmarking and Competency Assessment.
